Mind-Full Thoughts
From a Student's Perspective
I’m a 5th grader, and my personal experience at Mind-Full Meadows STEAM-Powered Learning Farm is like no other I’ve ever had. It felt immediately like a welcoming environment and a safe haven. I know more than I did before I came here, not just about animals, but I feel more confident than I ever have in most of my life. I feel more in touch with nature and my feelings than before, which I owe to the school.
My favorite parts are the chickens, though some roosters are a bit annoying. (Mind you, we will be finding those a new home.) The baby goats are very energetic and cuddly.
There is lots of space here, with safety precautions and drills as well as constant adult supervision and fun! This is a once-in-a-lifetime experience that I would never miss! Everyone here is welcoming and uplifting, with constant support!
There are a total of three trails, one meadow, and more than half of the property is filled with animals and trees. There is a creek, and under specific circumstances, creek play is allowed. In addition, there’s a playground, gardening activities, and more!
The topics we’re learning are also interesting and engaging, with flexible and constant activities. We are learning mainly about Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math. Our current focus is on bird nests, working with decimals, spring transitions (bird and plant behaviors over spring), weather patterns, and creations, from drawing to Makers Empire, (Extra school iPads are an option.), and more!
The only thing I would ever want to change would be learning more about herbalogy and hen behavior. I can’t wait to have more students join us here, after all, it only means more friends!
